About Mariting

Your Complete Hotel Intelligence Platform

Visual Competition Analysis

See your competitive position at a glance

Mariting transforms complex competitive data into intuitive scatter plot visualizations that instantly reveal your hotel's market position. No more spreadsheets or confusing data tables – see exactly where you stand versus your competition in seconds.

How It Works

Our advanced charting system plots each hotel as a bubble on a two-dimensional graph:

  • X-axis (Horizontal): Price positioning – see if you're premium or budget
  • Y-axis (Vertical): Guest rating – understand your quality perception
  • Bubble size: Number of reviews – visualize credibility and booking volume
  • Your hotel: Highlighted in distinctive blue for instant recognition
  • Competitors: Shown in pink for easy comparison

The Four Strategic Quadrants

🏆 Premium Position (Top Right)

High rating + High price. You're delivering exceptional value and guests recognize it. This is the ideal position for luxury and upscale properties.

💎 Value Leader (Top Left)

High rating + Competitive price. You're potentially leaving money on the table. This position suggests strong revenue growth opportunity through strategic price increases.

⚠️ Overpriced (Bottom Right)

Low rating + High price. Warning zone! Guests perceive poor value, which typically results in low occupancy and negative reviews. Immediate action required.

💰 Budget Position (Bottom Left)

Low rating + Low price. You're aligned with budget segment expectations. Decide if you want to stay here or invest in improvements to move upward.

Smart Crosshairs

Our system automatically calculates and displays:

  • Vertical line: Average market price – instantly see if you're above or below market
  • Horizontal line: Quality threshold (8.0/10 or 4.0/5) – the psychological booking barrier

Why Visual Analysis Matters

Human brains process visual information 60,000 times faster than text. Instead of analyzing rows of numbers, you instantly understand:

  • Your competitive strengths and weaknesses
  • Price optimization opportunities
  • Service improvement priorities
  • Market positioning gaps
  • Strategic movement direction

Make confident pricing and strategy decisions backed by clear visual evidence, not guesswork.

Day-by-Day Analysis

Understand weekly pricing patterns

Hotel demand isn't constant throughout the week. Business hotels peak Monday-Thursday, leisure properties surge on weekends, and event-driven demand creates unique patterns. Mariting's day-by-day analysis helps you understand and capitalize on these fluctuations.

Flexible Analysis Options

Single Day Focus

Choose one specific day (e.g., Saturday) to analyze in depth. Perfect for:

  • Comparing high-demand days (typically weekends)
  • Understanding special event pricing
  • Benchmarking your peak rates
  • Quick competitive snapshots

Full Week Overview

Analyze all seven days simultaneously to reveal:

  • Weekly demand patterns across your market
  • How competitors adjust pricing throughout the week
  • Your pricing consistency vs. dynamic strategies
  • Days where you're over/under-priced
  • Opportunities for rate optimization

Real-World Applications

Business Hotels

Typical pattern: Higher rates Monday-Thursday, lower Friday-Sunday. Mariting shows if you're following or fighting market trends.

Leisure Properties

Typical pattern: Peak rates Friday-Sunday, reduced midweek. See if your weekend premiums match market expectations.

Event-Driven Markets

Track how competitors price around conferences, concerts, sports events, and holidays. Never miss a revenue opportunity.

Pro Tip: Weekly Consistency

Use the same day across all hotels in your analysis. For example, if you check Saturday prices for your hotel, check Saturday for all competitors. This ensures accurate comparisons and valid insights.

Strategic Benefits

  • Dynamic Pricing: Adjust rates based on day-specific demand
  • Competitive Intelligence: See how aggressive competitors price each day
  • Revenue Optimization: Identify underpriced high-demand days
  • Demand Patterns: Understand your market's weekly rhythm
  • Forecasting: Use patterns to predict future pricing needs

Whether you analyze one day or seven, Mariting gives you the insights to price every night optimally.

Room Type Comparison

Analyze single and double rooms separately or together

Different room types have different competitive dynamics. A hotel might be perfectly priced for single rooms but overpriced for doubles, or vice versa. Mariting lets you analyze each room type independently for precise insights.

Why Separate Room Type Analysis?

Different Customer Segments

  • Single rooms: Often business travelers, price-sensitive solo leisure travelers
  • Double rooms: Couples, families, higher spending power
  • Each segment has different price tolerance and expectations

Different Competitive Pressures

  • More competition for double rooms (most common booking)
  • Single room supply varies significantly by market
  • Price gaps between room types differ by competitor

Analysis Options

Single Room Only

Focus exclusively on single room competitive positioning. Ideal for:

  • Business hotels with significant single room inventory
  • Markets with strong solo traveler demand
  • Properties targeting the corporate segment

Double Room Only

Concentrate on double room dynamics. Best for:

  • Leisure-focused properties
  • Hotels without single room inventory
  • Markets dominated by couple/family travel

Both Room Types

Analyze both simultaneously to:

  • Compare pricing strategies across room types
  • Ensure consistent positioning in both categories
  • Identify where you're stronger or weaker
  • Optimize your room type mix strategy
Common Insights

Many hotels discover they're:

  • Underpriced in singles but well-positioned in doubles
  • Premium in doubles but overpriced in singles
  • Competitive in one type but uncompetitive in another

These insights enable targeted pricing adjustments instead of blanket changes.

Strategic Applications

Price Gap Management

Optimize the difference between your single and double rates:

  • Is your gap too wide or too narrow vs. competitors?
  • Are you incentivizing the right room type?
  • Does your gap match market expectations?

Inventory Optimization

Use insights to inform:

  • Room type allocation decisions
  • Renovation priorities
  • Conversion strategies (singles to doubles or vice versa)

Segment Targeting

Adjust pricing to attract your preferred guest mix:

  • Emphasize business segment with competitive singles
  • Target leisure with attractive double rates
  • Balance occupancy across room types

Room type analysis is essential for hotels with diverse inventory. Don't average – analyze each type for maximum precision and revenue impact.

Easy Excel Template

Simple, intuitive data collection

Forget complex software, API integrations, or technical setup. Mariting uses a simple Excel template that anyone can fill out in 10-15 minutes. No training required, no learning curve – just straightforward data entry.

Template Design Philosophy

We've obsessed over making data collection as simple as possible:

  • One file: Everything in a single Excel document
  • Clear headers: Every column labeled in plain language
  • Example data: Your hotel pre-filled as a guide
  • Minimal fields: Only what's truly necessary
  • Flexible format: Fill only what you need

What You Need to Collect

Essential Information (Required)

  • Platform: Booking, Airbnb, Expedia, Google Hotels, TripAdvisor, or Trivago
  • Hotel names: Your property + competitors
  • Ratings: Current guest rating from the platform
  • Prices: At least one day's pricing for each hotel
  • Review count: Total number of reviews

Optional Additions

  • Additional days for weekly analysis
  • More competitors for comprehensive view
  • Both single and double rooms
Quick Start: 5-Minute Analysis

Minimum data needed:

  • 1 platform
  • 1 room type (single or double)
  • 1 day of pricing
  • 3-5 competitors

That's it! You'll get valuable insights in under 5 minutes of data entry.

How to Use the Template

Step 1: Download

Click "Download Template" and choose your language (English, Spanish, or German). The Excel file downloads instantly.

Step 2: Platform Selection

In row 4, specify which platform you're analyzing. Choose from:

  • Booking
  • Airbnb
  • Expedia
  • Google Hotels
  • TripAdvisor
  • Trivago

Step 3: Your Hotel

The first row is pre-filled with placeholder data for "[Your Hotel]". Replace with your actual data. Keep the brackets around your hotel name – that's how Mariting identifies you.

Step 4: Competitors

Add 3-7 competitor hotels. For each, enter:

  • Hotel name (no special formatting needed)
  • Current rating (e.g., 8.5, 4.3)
  • Price for at least one day
  • Total review count

Step 5: Optional Second Room Type

If analyzing both singles and doubles, repeat the process in the second section.

Data Collection Tips

Same Day, Same Time

Check all prices on the same date for fair comparison. Price fluctuations throughout the week make different-date comparisons misleading.

Exact Ratings

Don't round! Use 8.7, not 9. Precision matters for positioning analysis.

Direct Competitors

Choose hotels that:

  • Are in your geographic area (same neighborhood/district)
  • Have similar star rating (+/- 1 star)
  • Target similar guest segments
  • Actually compete for your bookings

Currency Consistency

Use the same currency for all hotels (€, $, £, etc.). Mariting strips currency symbols automatically.

Template Features

  • Multi-language: English, Spanish, German templates
  • Excel format: Works in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, LibreOffice
  • Pre-validated: Structure ensures compatibility
  • Reusable: Save monthly versions to track trends

The template is your bridge from raw market data to strategic insights. Simple to fill, powerful in results.
